After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in History in 2021, with a dissertation that focused on the political ideas expressed in the Mémoires of Philippe de Commynes (1447-1511) by employing a Critical Discourse Analysis, I had the opportunity to study in Rome at the Università degli studi Roma Tre during the first half of my master’s degree.
During my education in History at the KU Leuven, I have been interested in the interaction between socio-cultural aspects or developments and the political realm, especially during the Middle Ages and the early Renaissance.
Fascinated by the political history of medieval Italy, for my master’s dissertation I studied the reign of Adelaide of Turin (c. 1014/1024-1091) and her role in the religious reforms of the eleventh century, as expressed in her various charters and correspondence.
Following my graduation in 2022, I wanted to continue my education but at the same time gain some practical experience through teaching, and so I enrolled in the Educational Master’s program at the University of Antwerp.
After teaching for a year, I had the great opportunity to join the Sinergia research project Capturing the Present as a PhD student with Prof. Thalia Brero at the University of Neuchâtel in September of 2024. My research focuses on the media impact of events in the first half of the sixteenth century in northwestern Europe, mainly within the context of the conflict between the French King and the Habsburg Emperor, known as the “Italian Wars”.
